The Well-Educated Mind: The Portrait of a Lady

I finished reading The Portrait of a Lady yesterday after a long reading session in the afternoon. The last part of the novel really picks up speed and I just wanted to see how it would end. The ending is sort of ambiguous - does Isabel go back to Rome to end her marriage or to continue to live the life that she chose for herself?

Next week I'll review my notes and go through the stages of inquiry a la The Well-Educated Mind and pick up my next book - The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Yay! You did it. The ending left me disappointed until I did the inquiry questions and saw things differently. It was such a strange book.

So now that you've had some time to think about the end of POAL, what do you think Isabel did?
